Car time is for D&D
Dr. Nick (my grand-boss) was telling me last week about an idea that I really loved: car time is for D&D. He takes multi-hour road trips with his family pretty often, and instead of using their devices they play D&D together. The DM sits in the front passenger seat, and the players in the back. It takes a few trips to work through an adventure, but with theater of the mind you can manage well with a notebook, pencil, and some dice or a dice app.
I've been playing D&D for almost 30 years 😱 and I've considered this idea but never been able to execute on it. I love this way to engage with each other and pass the miles. It could be neat to use the other vehicles or landscape around you as an ambient determiner (like dice) in your story.
