Oh no, I'm getting into synthesizers

In middle school and one year of high school, I played the alto saxophone. I took some guitar lessons, but they didn't really stick—I didn't care for music with vocals at the time, and I wasn't exposed to any of the fun instrumental and experimental music. One year of high school marching bad killed my desire to play in the ensemble.

When I learned about electronic music from a classmate, my mind was blown. Techno was so cool. Daft Punk was out of this world. I couldn't believe it.

I've resisted the call of synthesizers for as long as I reasonably could. I brushed up against them a few times over the last couple of years. But now, I'm finding myself drawn back to music-making, and I finally have the technical background to find synthesis more accessible.

I'm specifically really interested in modular and analog synthesis (though not necessarily at the same time). Eurorack is one of the more common standards for modular synthesis, and the "gotta catch 'em all" nature of modules is unfortunately alluring for my particular neuroses. I also really enjoy analog synthesis, because making noises from hardware components is just plain cool.

So, if you see me in a month and I'm just a moving pile of patch cables... it's been nice knowing you.
